Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who weds soul gospel jazz and R&B in a signature mix. From Broadway to European clubs and festivals, the singer has done work everywhere. Sunshine is the daughter of Denise White. Although she lives in Atlanta but she is from Chester Pennsylvania where she began the musical path by singing as well as playing the piano at the church. She was a student at Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her musical apprenticeship in Atlanta's R&B scene. In 2005, she was the keyboardist in Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy and Tony Award winning vocalist who had worked on the stage production Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, approached her to be the director of the choral group for the stage production. Sunshine became the focus of interest during four consecutive performances during the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was later invited to sing during President Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009.
